One correction, before doing

chown www-data.www-data .glimpse_*

we need to do cd /root

and also

in /usr/share/lxr/http/lxr.conf

the value of glimpsebin have to be changed to

glimpsebin: <Directory glimpse has been installed/glimpse/bin
